Who We Are

UniGraf Precision Engineering

UniGraf is a South African specialist in precision CNC machining of synthetic graphite, carbon, and high-performance engineering plastics. Located in Meyerton, Gauteng, we serve the continent's most demanding industrial sectors and actively supply the North American graphite market.

Our facility is equipped with CNC milling centres, CNC turning (lathes), a horizontal boring mill, and conventional machining — giving us the flexibility to produce everything from complex one-off prototypes to high-volume production runs.

We machine graphite components that operate inside submerged arc furnaces, induction furnaces, aluminium smelters, and copper refineries — environments where failure is not an option.

What We Do

Machining Capabilities

From tight-tolerance CNC graphite components to large-format industrial plastic wear parts — our multi-machine facility handles diverse materials and complex geometries.

01
🔩
CNC Milling

3-axis CNC milling for complex graphite and plastic profiles, pockets, slots, and contoured surfaces with high repeatability.

  • Graphite blocks, tiles & furnace components
  • Complex 3D profiles & pocketing
  • Fixture plates & jigs
  • Aluminium cooling blocks & busbar spacers

Capacity: Up to 1500mm × 800mm × 600mm bed travel. Suitable for isostatic and extruded graphite grades.

02
🔄
CNC Turning

Precision CNC lathe turning for cylindrical graphite and engineering plastic components with tight diameter tolerances.

  • Graphite crucibles & cylinders
  • Pump sleeves & shaft spacers
  • Rollers, bushes & bearing liners
  • Rods, tubes & nozzles

Capacity: Swing up to 600mm Ø, turning length up to 1200mm. Suitable for rods, sleeves, and flanged components.

03
⛏️
Horizontal Boring Mill

Heavy-duty HBM for large-format graphite blocks and structural components requiring deep boring and precision facing operations.

  • Large tap hole blocks & launders
  • Floor blocks & furnace liners
  • Copper cooler bores
  • Run-out troughs

Capacity: Table travel 1200mm × 1000mm. Ideal for large monolithic graphite bodies requiring internal bores.

04
🟩
Industrial Plastics

Precision machining of HDPE, UHMWPE, Nylon, Delrin, and polyurethane-backed wear parts for conveying and process industries.

  • Conveyor guides & chain wear strips
  • Bushes, rollers & scraper blades
  • Custom wear pads & liners
  • Polyurethane-backed wear parts

Materials: HDPE, UHMWPE, Nylon 6/66, Delrin (POM), PTFE, polypropylene, polyurethane.

05
🛠️
Conventional Machining

Manual milling and turning for prototype work, emergency repairs, and small-batch components where CNC programming is not cost-effective.

  • Prototype graphite pieces
  • Reverse-engineered wear parts
  • Sensor brackets & mounting blocks
  • Custom one-off components

Advantage: Fast setup, flexible for short-run or urgent jobs. Skilled machinists with graphite-specific tooling.

06
📏
Reverse Engineering

Measure, model, and reproduce worn or legacy components with no drawings available. Submit a physical sample or dimensional sketch.

  • Worn graphite electrode reproduction
  • Legacy furnace component replication
  • Mine pump wear part replacement
  • 2D sketch to finished part

Process: Measure → draft 2D/3D → confirm with client → machine & deliver. Typical lead time: 5–10 days.
